Error: You exceeded your current quota, please check your plan and billing details.

If you are seeing this error, it means your OpenAI API usage credit is expired.

OpenAI gives free credit with an expiry date. If that expires, your API key will not work and you’ll see this error.

Solutions

You can try either of the two solutions below:

1. You can add your credit card for Pay Per Usages. It means, OpenAI will not charge you for any monthly or yearly subscription. Rather, it will charge you only for the words you generate. Normally, with ChatGPT model or the advanced DaVinci model, you can generate more than 20,000 words (or, 20 blog posts where each contains 1000 words) content with $1, which is already 50x cheaper than any other subscription based tool.

2. If you think you mistakenly created the OpenAI account (and now you want another free credit), then you can create a new account with a different email address and phone number for a free credit. (Please note that we don’t recommend to do this)
